First fishing report of the new year! Was nice and warm down here on the lake today - about 55 degrees - so thought I would get out to do a bit of fishing. Water temperature dropped a bit after all the rain we got this past week (lake came up about 4') and was around 48 degrees where I was. Tried some shallow and deep presentations. Ended up with a couple of very nice fish around some balls of bait in and around docks in the back of coves. Appears the bait is starting to move towards the back of the creeks and most of the bait is moving very slow as we approach the shad kill. Easy ambush for hungry bass. Had a 4 lb largemouth and a 4 lb smallmouth, both on a jigging spoon.
